What is it like up in the Observatory?
Visitors climb an internal stairway to the observatory dome, where the 1881 telescope sits on its dock. The ceiling rotates and partially opens for stargazing evenings. The exhibition is composed of three sculptures that visitors may touch and operate, poems and star maps on the wall, and sound recordings of birds in flight. The artist also created special lighting for the room. The room has the feel of an old and special place for learning.
