Art in an observatory? That's different!
As you know, art exhibitions are usually placed in museums and art galleries, but artist Martha Glowacki created sculptural art especially for Washburn Observatory on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. She chose the Observatory because it is 125 years old and is such an important part of scientific history-making. The sculptures in Starry Transit look like old scientific devices created for studying stars and bird migration. The sculptures will be in the Observatory from August 27 to November 6, 2005. You can visit the exhibition online at A Walk through the Exhibition anytime during the coming year.
