How can I Get There?
Washburn Observatory is situated at the summit of Observatory Hill on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. Observatory Drive extends east and west between Park Street and Highland Avenue, overlooking Lake Mendota. The observatory is accessible at all times from the east via Observatory Drive. Road construction between Walnut and Babcock Streets requires a brief detour on the west end of Observatory Drive, indicated by street signs. The observatory is regularly open on the first and third Wednesdays for evening star viewing. For the exhibition, the observatory is open Wednesdays 5-9 pm, Fridays 12-8 pm, Saturdays 10-5 pm, Sundays 12-5 pm.

Parking for Starry Transit: An Installation by Martha Glowacki is available along Observatory Drive and in adjacent Lot 26 after 4:30 pm on weekdays and all day on Saturdays and Sundays. University Lot 20 is free after 4:30 pm and on weekends, and at other times costs $3.50 for half day and $7.00 for all day parking. Other lots in the area include Lot 34 behind Elizabeth Waters Library, and Lot 7 at Grainger Hall.
