Answers:

Why is the artist so interested in the subject matter?
The exhibition Starry Transit brings together several of Marth Glowacki's interests in scientific illustration and natural history collections, which she distills into art. Since childhood, she has been fascinated by investigations into nature, particularly as they have been represented in natural history museums. More recently, she learned about planetarium studies of bird migration by star position and thought they were "magical." By manipulating some of the elements in this installation, visitors may encounter the joy of discovery Glowacki experiences when she examines old scientific treatises. The installation demonstrates how an artist synthesizes information to produce artworks.
